Burial Listing for surnames beginning with - J -

1) A single rose beside a burial listing indicates an unmarked grave.  If you find that your family member is unmarked and you wish to place a marker, please contact the Lee Mission Cemetery Board to discuss your options and to notify them of your intent.

2) A box with an "R" in it preceding a burial listing indicates a reserved plot

3) The number to the right of the death date is the burial plot number and can be used in the plot search option  to find out who is buried in adjoining plots.  An N/A in the plot location indicates that although the individual is known to have been buried in the cemetery, the exact location is not known at this time.   All additions and corrections are appreciated and can be sent to stephenie@leemissioncemetery.com.

Charles (Chuck) Jacobsen 1949-2022
It is sad to announce that Chuck recently died at home from a rare bone marrow disease. He had been successfully battling the disease since August 2021 but the disease recently accelerated.
Chuck was born, raised, lived in and loved the city of Salem all of his life. He graduated from North Salem High and attended Western Oregon State College,(O.C.E.at the time). He graduated from O.C.E. with a bachelors degree in microbiology, with a minor in math. While still in college Chuck married Christine (Chris) Williams, also of Salem. Chuck served seven years in the Oregon National Gurard and then pursued a carreer in real estate. He joined the firm of Ohmart and Calaba as an assoiciate, first in residential and then in commercial sales. Chuck was active in the Salem Realtor Association, serving one term as president. Chuck then opened up a private practice with long time partner and friend Fred Martin. Chuck was very successful in his real estate career and helped many people achieve their goal of owning a home or a suitable commercial property. Chuck made many cherished friends through his career and long time residency in Salem. Chuck quietly helped many people through the years. He was a very solid, old school man who always had a plan and a back up plan, and was always there to support his family and friends.
It seemed that Chuck spent a majority of his time working. He did however find time to make some beautiful creations with wood. Including an eight harness weaving loom for his wife, adirondak chairs, tables, chests and wooden boxes with secret panels for his nieces.
Chuck is preceded in death by his mother, Catherine, father Hassing (Jake) and his older brother Robert (Bob). He is survived by his wife of 52 years Chris, his sister Sandra (Sandy) of Sequim, Washington, and many much loved nieces.
At his request no memorial serviced will be held. Those that wish to could hoist a glass of their favorite beverage and toast this man who was well loved and respected and who will be greatly missed. Anyone who wishes to make a donation could do so in his name to the Red Cross Blood Bank or the Willamette Vital Health Hospice. Published by City View Funeral Home and Cemetery, May 29 and May 30, 2022.

"Heaven received a sweet valentine on Sunday February 14, 2016 as Barbara Lucille Jensen passed into the loving arms of her Savior at the age of 85, just one day shy of her 86th birthday.
Born in Salem, Oregon, Barbara moved to the newly-purchased family farm in Jefferson in 1930 at just 2 months old and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1948. She loved the family farm and lived there more than 65 years of her life until the time of her death. She was proud to raise her six children and five of her grandchildren on the farm. From a very young age, it was evident she possessed a deep love of animals and the great outdoors, spending most of her time outside. Above all, Barbara loved her family. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and was an excellent seamstress.
Her long-awaited, joyous, heavenly reunion included her older brother, William LeRoy White, who passed away in 1925; her mother, Ella May White, who passed away in 1932; and her father, Noah Carl White, who passed in 1965.
Barbara is survived by her son, Duane Jensen; daughter, Colleen Wilcox (Rick); daughter, Patricia Kuester (Adrian); son, Robert Jensen (Karla); daughter, Julie Carrow (Steve); and son, Bill Harrold (Melissa); grandchildren, Amy Jensen, Joel Jensen, Sara Estep, Annie Boyajian, Dane Kuester, Allison Kuester, Lindsay Jensen, Michael Jensen, Tiarra Bartels, Caleb Bartels, Tyler Bartels, Shanna Carrow and Jared Carrow; and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Serena, Sean, Elise, Silver, Jensen, Anderson and Sullivan. She is also survived by her sister Betty Shamberger of Salem, Oregon and her brother Larry White of Grass Valley, California.
A celebration of life service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2016, at Virgil T. Golden's Funeral Service in Salem, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Safe Haven Humane Society, 32220 Old Hwy 34, Tangent, Oregon 97389 or Oregon Commission for the Blind, 535 S.E. 12th Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97214 [Statesman Journal February 28, 2016]

"Carolyn Louise Johnson March 13, 1942 - April 4, 2010 SALEM - Carolyn, 68, passed away at her home on April 4, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. Carolyn was born March 13, 1942 in beautiful Prineville, Ore. to Frank and Helen Burr. She attended Crook County High School and Oregon State University. It was during her college years at Oregon State University that she met the love of her life. She married William L. Johnson on May Day in 1965, and they made Salem their home from 1967 to the present. Carolyn was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a homemaker who took great pride in her community by volunteering her time to help local organizations enhance the lives of others. Carolyn spent countless hours helping organizations such as: The Assistance League of Salem, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Salem Hospital Auxiliary, Salvation Army, Salem Keizer School District and many other local agencies. Serving others, to make the world a better place, was her way of embracing life on earth. Carolyn was very thankful to have such a loving husband to share and enjoy life with. Her favorite times were spending time with her precious grandchildren, going to her grandsons' athletic events, traveling, gardening, golfing, tennis, camping, reading, attending community events, the arts and hosting events for the entire family. She also was a loyal Oregon State Beaver fan who attended well over one hundred Beaver games at home and on the road. Carolyn was a very active member at Illahee Hills Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf and socializing with her many Ladies Club friends. Mom always lived life to the fullest and taught us how to have fun, stand up for ourselves, value family and friendships, and celebrate life. Whether it was a trick up her sleeve on April Fool's Day, a Friday the 13th celebration, a Halloween scare, Christmas pajama parties, or a birthday party with plenty of zing, Mom was the creator who made every event exciting and memorable. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Helen Burr, her in-laws Arnold and Sarah Johnson, Andria Ford (her grandson's mother), numerous family members and friends, and many cats and dogs. She is survived by her loving husband of forty-four years, Bill Johnson; daughter, Elizabeth Johnson, son in law Darrell Webster, and their sons Nico Santiago Johnson and Zach Webster of Stayton; son, Darrell Johnson of Salem, son, Neil Johnson and his son, Parker Johnson of Salem, brother, Bob Burr (Rita Burr) of Willamina, sister, Susan Erikson, brother in law Doug Erikson of The Dalles, brother in law, Bob Johnson (Linda Johnson) of San Diego, Calif., and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much - Ryan, Jenny, and Tim Burr, Ema Erikson, and Eric, Nick, and Kristen Johnson. Carolyn is also survived by her husband's cat Kitty (Bernard Knuckles). Carolyn was very comforted by the fact that she had her loving husband to take care of her during her six month illness. Dad showed everyone great courage, strength, and love while caring for his wife during her end of life journey. Mom was also blessed to have her family and her many friends by her side, supporting her with love. She was a long term member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church who had developed a strong relationship with God at an early age. Our family is very grateful for the outpouring of support from the Fishing Buddies, Golf Crew, high school friends, and other friends that Mom met on her walk through life. The amount of "fan mail", visits, and support that you have given, shows us all how much of a print Carolyn has left on this world. Mom made this world a better place and we can all only wait to be with her again. A Celebration of Carolyn's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 12, 2010 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Immediately following the event, the family would like friends and family to gather at Illahee Hills Country Club to share memories of Carolyn's beautiful life. Contributions may be made to the Assistance League of Salem or charity of choice. Arrangements are being made by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service." [Statesman Journal April 7, 2010]

Jones when, by mistake, Mrs. Jones gave to the baby granddaughter a spoonful of carbolic acid for a dose of cough syrup.
Baby Catamine Lucile, the second child of H.E. and Ida B. Jones, was born October 8, 1909, and had reached the most interesting age of infancy.  For several days the mother had been ill and Baby Lucile was being cared for by its grandparents.  By some means the bottle containing the acid had been inadvertently placed on the medicine shelf and was similar in appearance of bottle and contents to the one containing medicine.  In a moment the mistake was discovered, and all that the kindness of neighbors and prompt attention of Drs. Morse and Clay could do did not prevent fatal consequences and at 1 o'clock the baby breathed its last.

Past Aid--Dr. W.R. Morse was summoned but found the man past human aid, so the body was removed to the undertaking parlors of Lehman & Clough, where it will be held, pending an investigation.
Jones was about 50 years old and for several months had worked as a carpenter in Salem.  He came here from Denver, Colorado, where he had been a motorman on the street railway for 14 years.  He was a member of the Knights of Pythian and Moose lodges and was unmarried.
The lodges to which he belonged in Denver will be communicated with before arrangements are made for the funeral." OS Jan 10, 1912 1:2
